Does Odyssey...Know What The NSA Does?

The NSA, is America's famed digital spy agency.  Up until recently, the government denied it existence. However, we now have information about what they do and don't do. However, does Odyssey know this? Their go-to spy character, Jason Whittaker, works for the NSA but does the job of the FBI, NSA, CIA, and potentially the DIA.

Jason Whittaker plays a pivotal role in the Balackaard saga as a counter-terrorism agent investigating Red Scorpion in a Name not Number. The NSA does not really have counter-terrorism agents traveling all over the globe, however, they do have agent swho travel to spy on the communications networks of other countries. Tasha could have been doing thas and the agency sends Jason over there to rescue her so that is feasible.

In another episode, Jason produces a device that can hack into a computer via an IR port. WHile I have never seen such a device, the NSA does have devices that are not available to the public. It would make sense for this to happen, just as it would make sense for Whit code software for them, and the NSA to steal Applesauce from Whit remotely (Blackboard Books).

In the Search for Whit, Jason again calls the US Government and the NSA comes to Israel to help him. Apparently, the NSA used Whit to draw out smugglers. This makes zero sense. The NSA does not arrest people on foreign soil nor do they care about Middle Eastern smugglers. However, Whit was a former agent and was going to the Middle East anyway, so maybe they just gave him the job.

Jason also investigates cybercrime, which makes sense. Still, the NSA arresting 'The Whisperer', and 'killing' Jason, without the help of the FBI (America's domestic spy agency), doesn't make sense as NSA agents do not have officers in the USA who arrest people.

Lastly, Jason goes undercover to investigate a counterfeit ring that leads him to Odyssey and England. This makes absolutely no sense on the surface. First of all counterfeit is the Secret Service's job, and international espionage is the CIA's job (in collaboration with England's FBI counterpart Mi5.) And, undercover work would be the FBI's job on domestic soil. However, in 28 hours (which we will get to), it's been hinted that Jason has Pentagon contacts.

The only way Jason's involvement in the Green Ring makes sense is his connections to Odyssey and the missions that have brought him there (Blackaard involved a lot of cybercrime and novel methods of electronic communication (a special teletype machine per the books) Ai, and the Applescauce program. This coupled with Whits DoD coding jobs probably made the NSA monitor Odyssey. This makes Jason's work turn from normal NSA anylast to temporary field agent in Geneva.

Later Jason is needed to draw out the Whisperer and is 'killed.' This makes him good for undercover jobs because in the minds of the agents and the bad guys he is dead. Due to his experience and connections with the US government (his Dad, brother Jerry, and Nephew Monty) all being soldiers/spies he lands a job as an undercover agent to investigate the Green Ring.

Later he goes to the DoD and joins the DIA and gets the codes for the missiles, however, to maintain his cover he still works for the NSA. This is why Jillian has to protect him from his rivals who found out he was not dead. However, Jillian travelling the globe doesn't make sense though her placement in Odyssey does make sense as it is a "90-minute flight" from the Pentagon so the NSA could have an office in Odyssey (I would if I were them) or its a short drive to Virginia for Jillian to collect her Signials intelligence.

Jesus Loves You

Sin doesn’t go away on it’s own. Somebody has to pay for it. Who could it be? God knew there was only one choice: His own Son Jesus. Jesus came to earth and did something we could never do: He obeyed perfectly. He never messed up. He never even had a bad thought. But He still took the horrible punishment for sin by dying on the cross. God put all of His anger on Jesus. Jesus didn’t deserve that! Why did He take the punishment for something He didn’t do? He did it so that you and I don’t have to. You mean we don’t have to pay for our own sins? Now that’s GOOD NEWS!

Jesus didn’t stay dead. After three days He rose again to show everyone He has the power to give eternal life. If we trust in Him, God has no more punishment for us. Instead He offers us eternal life in heaven. When Jesus takes the sin out of our hearts He puts something else in it’s place: His perfect life. God sees Jesus’ goodness in us instead of our badness. Jesus’ good days cover all of our yucky days.

He takes our bad out and puts His good in. Do you still mess up sometimes? Me too. But now we can have something we didn’t have before: forgiveness! Pray and ask God to forgive your sins because of what Jesus did. Instead of being guilty you’ll be forgiven. Now that’s not just good news – that’s the BEST news! Do you know how to look up verses in your Bible? Give these a try to read more about the best news ever.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Accept Christ today by admitting you are a sinner. Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again. Choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You are now a new Christian!!
